Spotlight Vaulters – English Vaulting Squad

ep66

Bio:

The EVS was formed in 2000 by a group of committed vaulters and parents who wished to advance up to International level. At that time they had just two horses, Duke and Bowler. Since then they have purchased Tiny and Go for Gold from the Warwickshire College at Moreton Morrell, Tiny has now gone to Ararat Martin Ruiz (Spanish Vaulting Champion). They have been loaned Herbie from Alex Hargie and in 2008 they aquired Amigo who is steadily improving. Their newest horse is Willium who started vaulting earlier this year.

The English Vaulting Squad are proud to announce they are the 2009 British Advanced Team Champions.

The team consisting of Sara Shortland (16), Emma Runge (22), Stephanie Hunter (15), Sarah Reid (19), Lydia Barham (14), Paige Brown (12) and Megan Bignell (10) performed a solid set of compulsories and entertaining freestyle to clinch this year’s Championship, the first time since 1998 that an English club has won the trophy. They were assisted by team horse Go for Gold and lunged by Julie Newell.

They are also the first of our Spotlight Athletes to be selected to attend the Alltech 2010 World Equestrian Games.
