Spotlight Endurance – Cheryl Dell
Endurance is the most grueling of the WEG disciplines and requires tremendous stamina and fortitude. We are excited to be following a fantastic endurance rider from California, Cheryl Dell. Cheryl is a delightful person and a tough competitor and we are enjoying working with her! Good luck Cheryl!
Bio:
Our spotlight endurance rider Cheryl Dell hails from the West Coast. Cheryl is a small animal vet following in the family tradition. Her father took her along as a young girl to endurance competitions while officiating and competing. He was also active in respiratory physiology at vet school and Chief of Kansas State Vet School Teaching Hospital, so Cheryl certainly comes by it honestly. No wonder her horses are renowned for their quick recoveries at the vet checks, and why Cheryl and her current ride Reason to Believe are the leaders in their zone, and standing 6th nationally.
Last year Cheryl and Reason represented the US at the World Championships in Malaysia and they were also the Zone 4 100 Mile Endurance Reserve Champion. Cheryl rides Sturgeon Creek Arabians, and has just started training Reason’s nephew who she is very excited about. Cheryl and Reason will be doing the 50 mile AERC National Championship Ride in September, and then heading to Kentucky for the Test Event in October.
Cheryl brings some of the California sunshine to all of her updates, and makes endurance fascinating listening, we always look forward to more news from her and Reason to Believe.
