Equestrian Liability Topic of NJ Horse Council Seminar
The New Jersey Horse Council has announced a series of educational seminars to be held around the state to inform and educate horsemen and horsewomen about issues that affect them.
The next of these seminars will be held at Ricks Saddle Shop on Route 539 in Cream Ridge, NJ on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Topic “New Jersey’s Equestrian Activities Liability Act- What Does It Really Mean?” will be presented by Patricia Ratner,a New Jersey Horse Council director and an attorney.
Recent litigation related to this act has brought new attention to this important subject.
Maggi Romano, president of the New Jersey Horse Council encourages any one interested in horses, farm liability and the protection of their property to attend whether they own a horse or not.
Ratner will give an overview of the act and discuss the Horse Council’s participation as related to the litigation. She will also make suggestions as to how to further protect your property, your business and your investment by managing risks.
The seminar is free to Horse Council members, and there is a $15 donation to the NJ Horse Council’s Horse Rescue Fund for non-members.
Romano stated the purpose of the New Jersey Horse Council is to disseminate information about horses and horse farms to the general public and to continue the education of horse owners about the care of horses and their environment.
Further, it is to promote the interests of the entire horse industry in New Jersey through public information and the development of a close working relationship among individuals and organizations that recognize the importance of the horse industry to the economic and social well-being of the State of New Jersey.
Previous seminars have included discussions on working and getting along with non-horse neighbors and trail riding etiquette.
