Equestrian Takes 12th-Place Finish
Equestrian Takes 12th-Place Finish
The journey to Lexington continues for one local equestrian.
Summerland athlete Stephanie Rhodes-Bosch and her equine partner Port Authority, continue their quest for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
Rhodes-Bosch and Port Authority competed at the HSBC /FEI Wits End ClC World Cup Qualifier, which was recently held in Mulmur, Ont.
Rhodes-Bosch, a Canadian Eventing Team short listed athlete, finished a whisper out of the top 10 in 12th place.
The pair made a huge leap up the leader board with two spectacular jumping phases in a field of 36 international riders and horses.
This earned the pair a qualifying result and invitation to the World Cup final to be held later this month in Poland.
As with many Canadian athletes, a lack of resources will keep them from accepting this invitation.
They will continue to train with Canada’s National Team and focus their energy on competing in Maryland at the Fairhill International event in October.
Every carefully planned step for this pair will lead them to a spot on the Canadian team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games to be held in Lexington, Kentucky followed by the ultimate trip, which is the 2012 London Olympics.
