Taking A Break

It has been quite a whirlwind of a summer, and it looks like we are just getting a short reprieve here in Kentucky. We built a “sleepover” barn for Buddy, and have been working on trails and building an electric fence and had dinner the other night at JJ’s Cafe on our own Rock Lick Creek.

I did a driving clinic with Sterling Graburn last weekend in Tennessee, near Shelbyville, home of the “Celebration” a ten day show for Walking Horses. They have their own beautiful arena, as big as a baseball stadium. The children from the town get off school during the 10 days the event is held, can you believe that? We practiced our preliminary dressage test, and got to show off Buddy’s “9” extended trot.
One of my favorite places to dine is JJ’s Cafe on our own Rock Lick Creek. Our grandson Logan visited JJ’s “Man Camp” for three weeks. They set up our dining area on my favorite part of the creek where I try to walk to each morning and back before sitting (too much) by the computer. It is truly a slice of heaven here. It is still hard to believe that we found this property 2 hours south of Lexington, at the right time; 127 acres for about the same price of a small condo in Wellington…
